Web Accessibility

The Internet offers disabled users, an estimated 10% of the US population, unprecedented access to information. Unfortunately, careless web design has excluded these users from many websites. By failing to meet web accessibility standards, these sites prevent disabled users from taking advantage of technologies that have been created to give them equal access to the Internet.

Recognizing this problem, the US government has taken steps to ensure web accessibility. Section 508 of the U.S. Workforce Rehabilitation Act defines accessibility guidelines which all federally-funded agencies are now required to meet.
